The return of the Bangkok Design Festival 2026 (BKKDW2026) this year is not just an annual design festival, but a significant elevation of its role as a systematic platform driving the creative economy at the city level. This year marks the 9th edition organized by the Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) or CEA, under the major theme “DESIGN S/O/S”, which transcends the question of “What can design do?” to clearly declare that design is a tool that must be practically utilized to raise standards, create new opportunities, and find new solutions for the city, economy, and Thai businesses. The event will take place from January 29 to February 8, 2026.

The festival does not limit itself to showcasing creative works or cultural experiences but is awakening Bangkok to become a “space of opportunity” that unites the power of both emerging and established creators, international collaboration networks, public and private sectors, as well as the education sector. This will be achieved through collaborative programs across various areas in Bangkok, including Charoenkrung - Talat Noi, Phra Nakhon, Pak Khlong Talat, Bang Lamphu - Khao San, and other areas throughout the city such as Hua Lamphong, Song Wat, Pathum Wan, Sukhumvit, Khlong San, Bang Pho, etc. The festival serves as an Urban & Economic Platform that applies design as a mechanism for policy, economy, and urban development in a tangible way.

Introducing interesting programs that make “design” a new opportunity for everyone

This year, the heart of Bangkok Design Week 2026 is the design of experiential structures in three main dimensions that reflect its role as a city-level economic platform, covering Creative Talent, a space to showcase the potential and ideas of creators; Design Business, which opens opportunities for connections with businesses and international collaborations; and The District, which revitalizes the city's highlights economically. Thus, the festival not only presents design in terms of aesthetics but also functions as a mechanism that systematically connects “people – business – city”.

1) Creative Talent - A platform for “thinking for the future” from both emerging and established creators

This year's creative stage is designed as an “idea battleground” that seriously addresses the future of the city and the creative industry, from crafts that integrate technology to innovations that respond to environmental challenges and lifestyles.

3) The District Revitalizing urban economic areas into Bangkok’s creative economy.

Bangkok Design Week is a platform that is driving and elevating the city as a whole.

All of this reflects that Bangkok Design Week 2026 is reinforcing the role of “design” as a policy and economic tool that produces real outcomes for the city, while elevating Bangkok to become a regional creative economy hub. The festival not only invites everyone to make the city “more beautiful” but is also collaboratively designing Bangkok to be “stronger” in facing changes and creating both survival and new opportunities for the city, economy, and people. The festival presents over 350+ creative programs, held from January 29 to February 8, 2026, covering areas such as Charoenkrung - Talat Noi, Phra Nakhon, Pak Khlong Talat, Bang Lamphu - Khao San, and other areas throughout Bangkok.
